About the role

Nofence is growing quickly and our Product & Engineering team needs more talented people to help us build the world’s best solution for virtual fencing.

As an app developer in Nofence you will be one of our go-to experts for developing the best possible user experience in our mobile and web apps. You're the one turning UX designs into reality, but you also have opinions on what constitutes a good user experience and you work closely with the UX designers to achieve it.

You will be a part of the greater Product & Engineering team, which consists of engineers with a wide range of skills, from hardware development to UX design and everything in between. The P&E team is further divided into product teams that each work closely with representatives from other departments to reach our shared goals.

Your day to day team will be cross functional with a sense of autonomy, you will work with product owners, UX designers, backend developers and other app developers.

You will be spending most of your time in our React Native app, but you will also get the chance to work on our other systems. On the backend we are using Python, Django and Postgres going forward, but we also support existing systems built on NodeJS, TypeScript, JaveScript and MongoDB. We also have some webapps in React. As an early member of our team you will have a chance to influence how we build our tech stack.

Main responsibilities

• Develop new functionality for our existing mobile app which is written in React Native
• Help design our system for future functionality monitoring animal welfare and helping farmers take care of their animals
• Develop and monitor the metrics we need to understand if our users are having a good experience

Experience and qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science or similar, or equivalent work experience
• Experience with React Native or React
• A curiosity about what users need, and the eagerness to find out by engaging directly with the users
• Self-driven and self motivated
• Enjoy working in an autonomous cross-functional team
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Comfortable working in an English speaking work environment
• Good written and verbal communication skills

The role will include some traveling. At Nofence, we aim to facilitate a hybrid work life where one can combine working from home and physical presence at one of our hubs: Batnfjordsøra (HQ), Oslo and Trondheim.
